The Mentoring Research Network (MRN) is a grassroots initiative empowering researchers and scholars in the Global South. Established in 2021, we bring together diverse voices to tackle sustainability challenges across domains like planetary health, environmental sustainability, climate change, and indigenous knowledge systems.
Our mission is to foster research capacity, promote knowledge exchange, and inspire innovative, community-centered solutions for global challenges. Through collaboration and transdisciplinary approaches, MRN aims to contribute to a sustainable future for humanity and the planet.
For two action-packed years, the MRN has been a catalyst, fostering partnerships that transcend borders, and taking vision to action. The MRN has created a dynamic ecosystem of knowledge exchange where mentors and mentees go beyond traditional mentorship, bringing together diverse fields where ideas converge and boundaries are pushed. As the MRN's tale unfolds, we remain committed to empowering the next generation of researchers, celebrating the power of collaboration in a unique and meaningful way!
The emergence of AI technologies has transformed the way we conduct research, analyze data, and make discoveries. While these advancements bring immense opportunities, they also raise ethical concerns that demand our attention. The MRN recognize the ethical complexities that arise in this new era of AI-driven research and its critical role in shaping the future of African researchers and the global South as a whole.
Each Indigenous culture is a branch of a tree, a repository of knowledge, a source of inspiration, and a promise for the future. The MRN as a community of scientists and health advocates, integrates holistic perspectives to bring attention to the wealth of ancient views of health and wellbeing, honour indigenous traditions and stimulate a range of research ideas and inspirations that help us make better sense of the world we live in.
